Bangladesh takes part in World Robot Olympiad for third time
Three teams from Bangladesh are participating in the world's most prestigious robotics competition 'World Robot Olympiad 2023'. The teams representing Bangladesh in the three-day 25th edition of the Olympiad starting from November 7 in Panama are - 'Mechascratch_404', 'Robinium Bangladesh' and 'Bite Bandits'. This is the second time that contestants from Bangladesh are participating physically in this competition. There are a total of eight contestants from three teams.
Mamluk Sabir Ahmad, Managing Director of Computer Services Limited, introduced this robot team through a press conference held on Wednesday at BDOSN's own office, the organizer of the Bangladesh phase of this Olympiad. At this time, Mr. Mamluk Sabir Ahmad expressed optimism that Bangladesh will reach far by relying on the talent of students. He also mentioned that the motivation of the students as well as the parents is very important.
The members of this year's team 'Mechascratch_404' are: Abu Nafis Mohammad Noor Rohan of Notre Dame College and Mahir Tajwar Chowdhury of Mirzapur Cadet College. Team 'Robniam Bangladesh' consists of Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur's Israfil Shaheen Aranya, Sunnydale's Kazi Mostahid Labib and Tafseer Tahreem. And the members of Team 'Bite Bandits' are: Hasibuzzaman Bhuiyan of Will's Little Flower School and College, Chowdhury Muhammad Minhatullah of Notre Dame College and Atiqa Binte Amin of Agricultural University College. Redwan Ferdous is the team leader of the teams and Maherul Azam Qureshi is the deputy team leader.
Before this, 'World Robot Olympiad 2023', the national episode of Bangladesh, was held at the National Science and Technology Complex in the capital last September. A two-day international team selection camp was held with the winners at the national level. Based on the success and performance of this camp, the team representing Bangladesh in 'World Robot Olympiad 2023' is selected.
Redwan Ferdous, team leader of Bangladesh in the World Robot Olympiad, said, 'In 2020, we became a member of the World Robot Olympiad. Bangladesh is the 25th member in Asia and 84th among global members of WRO. The service competition was not held. In 2021, Bangladesh participated in the online event for the first time. After participating for the first time, Bangladesh secured the tenth place where 200 teams from 66 countries around the world took part. The next year in 2022, for the first time, Bangladesh competed with more than three hundred competitors from 375 teams from 73 countries in the world and won the bronze medal as well as the eighth place. And this year the children of our country will participate directly for the second time.
Augmedix Bangladesh is the sponsor of the World Robot Olympiad-Bangladesh national stage in 2023. The Olympiad was organized by the Bangladesh Science and Technology Museum and the Bangladesh Open Source Network in collaboration with Stanford University's Hatch Center.
